Mr. and Mrs. Gust Martin Celebrate 50th Anniversary

   Mr. and Mrs. Gust Martin of Polar, who were married fifty years July 23 were guests at a surprise dance given for them July 27 at the Polar country club. Music was furnished by the Phil Fleischmann orchestra and lunch was served.
   Mr. and Mrs. Martin were married July 23, 1907 by the Rev. Griese at  St. Peter's Lutheran church at Polar. Mrs. Hattie Shank and Carl Summ of route 2, members of the original wedding party, were present for the dance.
   Mrs. Martin, the former Marie Summ, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Summ of Antigo, was born July 23, 1873 (Incorrect! 1883), in Antigo. Gust Martin, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Martin, was born in Germany June 21, 1872 (Incorrect! 1882), and came to Polar with his parents as a child. Since their marriage, the Gust Martins have lived on a farm in Polar.
   The couple had six children, of which a son Harold is deceased. They are: Mrs. Ewald Flemming of Bryant; Mrs. James McMorrow of Honolulu, Hawaii; Leonard Martin of Cudahy; Marlow Martin of Waukesha; and Oscar Martin of Antigo; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   Among the gifts they received were two bouquets of orchids from their daughter in Hawaii.
   The 250 guests attended from Pearson, Bryant, Antigo, White Lake, Polar, Cudahy, Waukesha and Chicago, Ill.

Warranty Deed: 10 Jun 1891; G. W. Washburn to Gustave Martin, in Langlade County, Wisconsin

  This indenture, made this 10th day of June in the year of our Lord 1891 between G. W. Washburn and Sarah P. his wife of Winnebago County, Wis. parties of the first part, and Gustave Martin of Langlade County, Wisconsin party of the second part,
  Witnesseth, that the said parties of the first, for and in consideration of the sum of $400, to him in hand paid, by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged; have given, granted, bargained, sold, remised, released, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, remise, release, alien, convey and confirm, unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever, the following described real estate, situated in the County of Langlade, and State of Wisconsin, to-wit:
  The East half of the South West quarter of section fourteen, Township 31 North, of Range 12 East.
  Together with all the singular the Hereditaments and Appurtenaces thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining; and all the estate, right, title, interest, claim or demand whatsoever of the said party of the first part, either in law or equity, either in possession or expectancy of, in and to the above bargained premises and their Hereditaments and Appurtenaces. To have and to hold the said premises as above described, with the Hereditaments and Appurtenances, unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever.
  And the said G. W. Washburg for himself and his heirs, executors and administrators, does covenant, grant, bargain and agree, to and with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, that at the time of ensealing and delivery of these presents he is well seized of the premises above described, as of a good, sure, perfect, absolute and indefeasible estate of inheritance in the law, in fee simple, and that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances whatever and that the above bargained premises, in the quiet and peaceable possession of the said part of the second part his heirs and assigns, against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming the whole or any part thereof he will forever Warrant and Defend. Except taxes of any assessed against said land since July 01, 1887- which the party of the second part is to pay.
  In witness whereof, the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Will: 07 Oct 1933; Gustav Martin, in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin

     KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I Gustav Martin of the Town of Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
     1.  I give, devise and bequeath to my son William Martin a note and mortgage executed by Walter Stuempges and Sylvia Stuempges his wife in the amount of $700.00 dated January 25, 1932, said note being secured by a real estate mortgage of even date on the following described premises:   "Commencing at the Center Stake of Section Fifteen in Township Thirty One North, of Range Twelve East, thence east twenty three feet, thence south nine rods and three feet,- thence east thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, thence north nine rods and three feet, thence west thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, to place of beginning, being a part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NW 1/4 SE 1/4) of Section Fifteen (15) IN Township and Range Aforesaid"   which was recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Langlade County, Wisconsin, on the 27th day of January, A. D. 1932 at 8:30 o'clock A. M. and recorded in Volume 181 of mortgages on page 129 as document number 121149.
     2.  I hereby nominate and appoint my son William Martin the executor of this my last will and request that he be not required to give a surety or sureties upon his official bond or that he be required to give no bond.
     3.  I make no provisions in this my last will and testament for my son Otto Martin and Gustav Martin Jr. for the reason that they have been provided for during my life time.
     4.  I have also made no provisions in this my last will for my debts and funeral expenses as the same are to be paid by my son Otto Martin under a bond of support heretofore executed by said Otto Martin.
     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of October, A. D. 1933.

We Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin, his wife of the Town of Polar, Langlade Co, Wis. grantors of Langlade County, Wisconsin hereby CONVEY AND WARRANT to Otto Martin grantee of Langlade County, Wisconsin, for the sum of $6,000, the following tract of land in LANGLADE COUNTY, State of Wisconsin,
The East half of the South West quarter of Section 14, Township 31 North, Range 12 East;
also all horses, cattle  and other live stock now on said farm also all farm machinery thereon, also all wagons, baggies, sleighs and other articles, in fact all persona property on said premises, except the household furniture, utensils and now in the old dwelling house on said premises, occupied by said grantors and their personal belongings

Mortgage bearing date 27 Jun 1891 executed by Gustave Martin and Augusta Martin his wife to S. E. Leslie and by him assigned to me which said morgage was duly recorded in the office of the register of deeds in the county of Langlade in the State of Wisconsin, on the 27th day of June A. D. 1891, at 2:30pm, in Vol 21 of Mortgage, on page 257 and do hereby release the same and all my right, title and interest, in and to the premises therein described and to the Register of said is hereby authorized to enter this Satisfaction of Record.

This indenture, made this 27th day of June in the year of our Lord 1891 between Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin, his wife, of Langlade County, Wisconsin parties of the first part, and S. E. Leslie of Antigo, Wisconsin parties of the second part,
Witnesseth, that the said part of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of $250, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowleged, haved granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said part of the second, and to heirs and assigns forever, all that certain tract-piece-or parcel-of land situated, lying and being in the county of Langlade, State of Wisconsin and particularly described as follows, to wit: The East half of the South West quarter of Section 14 in Township 31 North, of Range 12 East, containing 80 acres more or less according to Goernment Survey.
To have and to hold, the above bargained premises, with the appurtenances, unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always, and these presents are upon the express condition, that if the said Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin parties of the first part, their heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, shall well and truly pay, or cause to be paid, to the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns the sum of $250 three years after date, at office of Schintz and Hogan in Antigo, Wisconsin, with interest payable annually at the rate of 10% per annum until paid according to the condition of one certain promissary note bearing even date herewith, executed by Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin, the said parties of the first part, to the said part of the second part, as collateral security, then these presents and the said promissary note shall cease and be null and void.
And the said Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin do further covenant and agree that they will pay taxes and assessments of every nature that may be assessed on said premises, previous to the day appointed in pursuance of any law of the State for the sale of land for taxes. And also will pay the sum of $35 as solicitor's fees, in case of forclosure of this mortgage, by reason of the non-performance of any of the conditions hereof by said parties of the first part. And in the case of the non-payment of said sum, or any part thereof, at the time or times above limited for the payment thereof, or in case of the non-payment of any taxes that may be assessed on said premises in mannor aforesaid, then and in either case, it shall or may be lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, and the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant and agree, and by these presents empower and authorize the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, to grant, bargain, sell, release and convey the said premises, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, at Public Auction or Vendue, and on such sale to make and execute to the purchaser or purchasers, his, her or their heirs and assigns forever, good, ample and sufficient DEEDS OF CONVEYANCE in the law, pursuant to the statue in such case made and provided; and out of the moneys arising from such sale, to retain the principal and interest which shall the be due on the said promissary note together with the costs and charges, and the said sum of $35, solicitor's fees as aforesaid, rendering the surplus moneys, if any there be, to the said parties of the first part, their heirs, executors, adminstrators or assigns, after deducting the cost of such Vendue as aforesaid.
