Obituary #2 of Auguste (Lübke) Martin

   Mrs. Augusta Martin
       Funeral Services for Mrs. Augusta Martin, who passed away on October 19 were held Sunday, October 23 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Polar. The Rev. Harold T. Rasmussen officiated. Internment was in the Polar cemetery.
       The pallbearers were Louis Hogelee, Peter Anderson, Gust Johnson, Henry Lade, Robert Kirsch, and Henry Brandt. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Martin, and Miss Anita Martin of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Otto of Antigo, Henry Kipke of Manawa, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lembke of Sheboygan, Mrs. Ella Johnson and son, Richard, of New London, Mrs. Minnie Becker, and William Klingbeil of Bear Creek, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schmidt of Pearson.

   Mrs. Augusta Martin
       Mrs. Augusta Martin, 85, a resident of the town of Polar for the past 50 years, died early last evening at the Memorial hospital, where she has been a patient since last Sunday, when she fell and broke her leg.
       Before her marriage Augusta Lubke, Mrs. Martin was born in Germany in 1853 on Nov. 29. She was married in Germany and in 1883 they came to the United States, settling near Beaver Dam. Five years later they came to Langlade county, making their home in the town of Polar, where they have lived since. Mr. Martin died in 1934.
       Surviving her are three sons, Otto of the town of Polar; Gustav of the town of Polar; and William, of the town of Polar, with whom she made her home. One daughter, Alvina, Mrs. Henry Kipke of Polar preceded her in death in 1908. A daughter, Anna, passed away in infancy, and a son, Carl, at the age of five.
       Mrs. Martin was a member of St. John's Lutheran church of Polar and was an active member of the Ladies' Aid of that church.
       Funeral services will be held at 2o'clock Sunday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. H. T. Rasmussen as the officiant. Interment will be in the Polar cemetery. The body will lie in state at the William Martin home in the town of Polar.

     KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I Gustav Martin of the Town of Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
     1.  I give, devise and bequeath to my son William Martin a note and mortgage executed by Walter Stuempges and Sylvia Stuempges his wife in the amount of $700.00 dated January 25, 1932, said note being secured by a real estate mortgage of even date on the following described premises:   "Commencing at the Center Stake of Section Fifteen in Township Thirty One North, of Range Twelve East, thence east twenty three feet, thence south nine rods and three feet,- thence east thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, thence north nine rods and three feet, thence west thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, to place of beginning, being a part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NW 1/4 SE 1/4) of Section Fifteen (15) IN Township and Range Aforesaid"   which was recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Langlade County, Wisconsin, on the 27th day of January, A. D. 1932 at 8:30 o'clock A. M. and recorded in Volume 181 of mortgages on page 129 as document number 121149.
     2.  I hereby nominate and appoint my son William Martin the executor of this my last will and request that he be not required to give a surety or sureties upon his official bond or that he be required to give no bond.
     3.  I make no provisions in this my last will and testament for my son Otto Martin and Gustav Martin Jr. for the reason that they have been provided for during my life time.
     4.  I have also made no provisions in this my last will for my debts and funeral expenses as the same are to be paid by my son Otto Martin under a bond of support heretofore executed by said Otto Martin.
     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of October, A. D. 1933.

Leslie and by him assigned to me which said morgage was duly recorded in the office of the register of deeds in the county of Langlade in the State of Wisconsin, on the 27th day of June A. This indenture, made this 27th day of June in the year of our Lord 1891 between Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin, his wife, of Langlade County, Wisconsin parties of the first part, and S. E. Leslie of Antigo, Wisconsin parties of the second part,
Witnesseth, that the said part of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of $250, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowleged, haved granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said part of the second, and to heirs and assigns forever, all that certain tract-piece-or parcel-of land situated, lying and being in the county of Langlade, State of Wisconsin and particularly described as follows, to wit: The East half of the South West quarter of Section 14 in Township 31 North, of Range 12 East, containing 80 acres more or less according to Goernment Survey.
To have and to hold, the above bargained premises, with the appurtenances, unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always, and these presents are upon the express condition, that if the said Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin parties of the first part, their heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, shall well and truly pay, or cause to be paid, to the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns the sum of $250 three years after date, at office of Schintz and Hogan in Antigo, Wisconsin, with interest payable annually at the rate of 10% per annum until paid according to the condition of one certain promissary note bearing even date herewith, executed by Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin, the said parties of the first part, to the said part of the second part, as collateral security, then these presents and the said promissary note shall cease and be null and void.
And the said Gustav Martin and Augusta Martin do further covenant and agree that they will pay taxes and assessments of every nature that may be assessed on said premises, previous to the day appointed in pursuance of any law of the State for the sale of land for taxes. And also will pay the sum of $35 as solicitor's fees, in case of forclosure of this mortgage, by reason of the non-performance of any of the conditions hereof by said parties of the first part. And in the case of the non-payment of said sum, or any part thereof, at the time or times above limited for the payment thereof, or in case of the non-payment of any taxes that may be assessed on said premises in mannor aforesaid, then and in either case, it shall or may be lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, and the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant and agree, and by these presents empower and authorize the said party of the second part his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, to grant, bargain, sell, release and convey the said premises, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, at Public Auction or Vendue, and on such sale to make and execute to the purchaser or purchasers, his, her or their heirs and assigns forever, good, ample and sufficient DEEDS OF CONVEYANCE in the law, pursuant to the statue in such case made and provided; and out of the moneys arising from such sale, to retain the principal and interest which shall the be due on the said promissary note together with the costs and charges, and the said sum of $35, solicitor's fees as aforesaid, rendering the surplus moneys, if any there be, to the said parties of the first part, their heirs, executors, adminstrators or assigns, after deducting the cost of such Vendue as aforesaid.

Surname Saturday #22: Blaylock

The Blaylock's are an old colonial family, originally from Northern England, that settled in Accomack County, Virginia in the early 1600's. They eventually migrated out of Virginia, into North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and finally Mississippi. Also, the name seems to have changed twice. Here is what I know:
